It consists of a robust 80-mesh PET/cotton weave with a high-performance natural rubber adhesive. The tape adheres reliably even to rough surfaces, is light-absorbing (non-reflective), water-repellent, and weather-resistant. At the same time, it can be easily torn by hand, applied cleanly, and removed just as easily—ideal for temporary fastening in events, theater, and studio settings. Thanks to its matte finish in black, white, and silver, this fabric tape is perfect for on-stage and backstage applications, marking, and covering shiny surfaces.

Key Features

Matte, light-absorbing, non-reflective fabric tape

PE-extruded fabric with 80-mesh PET/cotton weave

Adhesive: Natural rubber

Thickness: 310 µm

Dimensions: 50 m x 50 mm

Color options: matte black, matte silver, matte white

Good adhesion, even on rough surfaces (adhesion to steel: 2 N/cm)

Easy to tear by hand; straight tear edge: good

Easy to remove; good removability after 14 days (85 °C, 95% relative humidity)

Water-resistant, moisture-resistant, and weather-resistant

UV resistance: good; fogging: good

Elongation at break: 14%, tensile strength: 85 N/cm, abrasion resistance: good

Plasticizer resistance: moderate

Temperature resistance (30 min.): 125 °C

Fluorescent: no; Surface appearance: matte

Tear resistance by hand: good

Applications

On-stage and backstage applications in theater, opera, stage, and cinema

Covering glossy and reflective surfaces

Temporary securing of cables to floors, carpets, or walls

Covering joints, gaps, and transitions

Floor markings, e.g., position markers on stage

General event, trade show, and studio technology

Summary

The tesa Professional 53949 Gaffer Tape is the ideal, matte professional-grade fabric tape for all applications where reliable adhesion, quick application, and non-reflective surfaces are crucial—perfect for events, stage, and studio use.

For more information, please refer to the data sheets
